Representing the pinnacle of annual support, the Hauck Society is named for The University’s of Maine’s 8^th President, Arthur Hauck.  Serving as President from 1934 to 1958, Hauck is one of UMaine’s longest-serving President’s and, arguably, one of the most popular in the institution’s history.

Dirigo Society

As the official land grant university and sea grant college of the State of Maine, The University of Maine is the flagship campus of Maine’s 7-member university system.  Dirigo is taken from the Maine state motto, which means “I Lead”.

The Fogler Society is named in honor of one of UMaine’s most prominent alumni, Raymond Fogler ’15.  An avid supporter of his alma mater, Raymond missed only 2 class reunions in more than 70 years!  The largest research library in Maine, Fogler Library, houses collections and services supporting the faculty, students, and staff of UMaine as well as the residents of Maine.

1865 is the year The University of Maine was founded. Originally established as the Maine College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts, the institution opened three years later with twelve students and two faculty members. The name was officially changed to The University of Maine in 1895.

The President’s Club recognizes donors who show their loyalty and support for UMaine at a significant level.  Traditionally, President’s Club donors (as well as those listed above) are invited to an invitation-only reception during Homecoming weekend, giving the President of the University the opportunity to thank members personally.
