Eric Charles York,
37, from Grand Canyon, Arizona, died on November 2, 2007, from an infection
he received while doing an autopsy on a mountain lion. B.S. in wildlife
management. After graduation he received his M.S. from the University of
Massachusetts. He was employed with the California Park Service trapping,
tracking, and recording information on bobcats, coyotes, and mountain lions.
His career led him to Nepal, Chile, Pakistan, and to many states in the U.S.
At the time of his death he was employed as a wildlife biologist human
interaction park ranger with the National Park Service at Grand Canyon
National Park. He enjoyed parachuting, hunting, and had fished in Alaska,
Colorado, California, Wyoming, Maine, and Massachusetts. Recently he had
become involved with Felidae Conservation Fund, an organization that focuses
on conservation of all cat species. He is survived by his parents.

Linda Louise McRea,
57, of Bangor, Maine, died on September 26, 2007, from pancreatic cancer.
B.A. in English and history. After working as a nurse in Lewiston from
1970-1978, Linda began working for the Lewiston Daily Sun and the
Lewiston Evening Journal. She wrote an award-winning weekly column,
wrote feature stories, and became features editor for the Sunday Sun
Journal. While returning to college in the 1990s, she began working
part-time at the Bangor Daily News. She joined the Peace Corps in
1997-1998, teaching English at a boarding school in the southwestern African
nation of Namibia. After returning from Africa, she resumed her work at the
Bangor Daily News. Survivors include her husband, Tim Allen ’76, four
children including Corey Michaud ’93, Nathan Michaud ’96, and Maggie McRea
Michaud Haines ’05, and 10 grandchildren.
Josephine “Jo” A. Yeatts Merrill,
61, of Moline, Illinois, on September 14, 2007. B.A. in sociology. She had
been employed at Bank of America in Bangor. She enjoyed cooking, her organic
gardens, and her cats. Survivors include her mother, three sisters, and a
brother.

Michelle Ann MacLeod Mills,
38, of Bar Harbor, Maine, on September 12, 2007. B.A. in social work. She
worked for the State of Maine Department of Human Services as a caseworker
for several years. She also worked in many area restaurants and was known by
her family and friends as a great cook, exceptional baker, and fine candy
maker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bar Harbor. Survivors
include her husband and stepdaughter.

Cherie Porter Landry,
32, of California, Maryland, died from a heart attack after suffering from
Celiac disease, on November 23, 2007. B.S. in chemical engineering and a
member of the marching band and Tau Beta Sigma sorority. She later earned an
M.S. while employed at Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland. At the
time of her death, she was an associate instructor with Texas A & M
University in Texas and Maryland. She was recently recognized by the Dallas
chapter of the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) for her
commitment and effort in raising awareness about Celiac disease. She
volunteered at the Maine Center for the Blind, Habitat for Humanity,
Adopt-a-Soldier Program, and the NFCA. Survivors include her husband,
daughter, and parents Wendell ’62 and Bonnie McCarthy Porter ’73G, ’79G.
