SENIOR
ALUMNI
FUND
One of our important functions
is to administer and fund the Senior Alumni Scholarships. These include
scholarships for
non-traditional students and top scholars from Maine high schools. It is
important and rewarding work, and contributes to future generations.
During the 2006-2007 academic
year, the Senior Alumni Scholarship Fund provided more than $76,000
for
-
40 Donald V. Taverner '43
Non-Traditional Scholarships
-
4 Senior Alumni
Distinguished Student in Visual & Performing Arts scholarships
-
4 Senior Alumni

-
4 Senior Alumni

Next year's goal is to
increase annual dollars raised in support of scholarships
to $80,000 for the '07'08 academic

SENIOR ALUMNI
BEQUEST
INITIATIVE
The Senior Alumni Executive Committee has begun a bequest initiative so that
the endowment will someday replace our annual fundraising efforts. The
approach is simple - if just 80 Senior Alums remember the Senior Alumni
Scholarship endowment in their wills with a bequest of $10,000 or more, or
make a gift to the endowment in the amount of $10,000, Senior Alumni
Scholarships will one day be awarded, just as they are now, but without the
necessity for annual scholarship fundraising.
Last year,
fifty students received Senior Alumni Scholarships, including
non-traditional students, distinguished scholars and students with
outstanding artistic and musical talent. With tuition and fees costing
$7,474 this year for in-state students, the need for scholarship aid has
never been greater.
For
additional information on becoming one of the special 80 who remember the
Senior Alumni endowment fund in your will or trust, please contact the
Planned Giving office at the University of Maine Foundation at (207)
581-5100.
