Alumni
Career Award
The Alumni Association's most prestigious honor, this award is to be given to an alumnus/a who has revealed the quality of
educational excellence as encouraged by The University of Maine and who has
exemplified an outstanding record in professional, business, civic, or other
public service.
Bernard
Lown Alumni Humanitarian Award
The Bernard Lown Alumni Humanitarian Award is given by the
University of Maine Alumni Association to recognize and honor graduates who
distinguish themselves in humanitarian service. It is named to honor the
work of Dr. Bernard Lown, M.D., Class of 1942, Nobel Peace Prize recipient
and co-president of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear
War.
Fogler
Legacy Award
The Fogler Legacy Award is presented annually to one family that has a
tradition of attending The University of Maine. The recipient must include a
minimum of three generations of graduates. At least two of the family
members must have a record of outstanding service to their alma mater, the
Alumni Association, their community, and/or their profession.
Pine
Tree Emblem Alumni Service Award
Awarded annually, this alumni service award is in recognition and
appreciation of outstanding service rendered in promoting alumni work.
Hilda
Sterling '55 Class Correspondent Award
This award is presented annually to an alumnus/a for exemplary service to
the class as class correspondent.
Black
Bear Award
The Black Bear Award is presented annually in appreciation of outstanding
service to the University.
Block
"M" Alumni Activities Award
The object of this award is to maintain and develop strong and active
goodwill for the University through work in local organizations, class
activities and The University of Maine Alumni Association.
Spirit of Maine
Achievement Award
This newly established award is given to a UMaine alumnus/a
who has graduated in the last fifteen years and whose accomplishments,
commitment, and initiative in a profession, business, or public service
arena reflect the high standards and vitality of The University of Maine.
Golden
"M" Award
Presented to a member of the 50-year reunion class for outstanding class
service and/or class leadership since graduation.
Nominees for this award
are solicited by means of a 50-year reunion class ballot and are not
accepted on-line.
Distinguished
MAINE Professor
Sponsored by the Class of 1942, this award honors those professors who
exemplify the highest qualities of teaching, research and public service -
in that order. Nominees for this award are solicited by means of
on-campus mailings to the 5 Deans and are not accepted on-line.
