"Senior Skull AIG"
|
Now is an exciting time for the Senior
Skull Society as we enter our 101st year of existence. The Senior Skulls
were founded in 1906 not only to recognize the top leaders of the incoming
senior class, but also to create a group that through its actions and
connections, support one another and promote the University of Maine. This
was true back then and it remains true today.
It is apparent that we all share the desire to renew connections with one
another and the organization. Likewise, the current Skull class has a strong
desire to develop ties to its ancestry and interact more with alumni.
To better serve the Society’s needs beyond graduation, a few Senior Skull
alumni have been working with the University of Maine Alumni Association to
create the Senior Skull Alumni Interest Group (AIG). It is our vision
that this group will provide us, as fellow Skulls, a way to remain connected
beyond graduation, give back to the institution that gave us so much, and to
provide the current Skull class access to mentoring and networking
opportunities. We think it is important to keep the Brotherhood connected
and provide opportunities for those that wish to reach out to Skulls from
years past or to those of the current class.
To build the Senior Skull AIG into an
active, viable group we are asking ALL SENIOR SKULL ALUMNI to do two
things:
1. Register on UMaine’s new online social network –
incircle.mainealumni.com
– using your alumni ID number and select the Senior Skulls as one of
your "Groups”; and
2. Reach out to other Senior Skulls you know and ask them to do the same.
This online networking service will provide us, as Brother Skulls, with an
easy to use yet powerful tool to stay connected with one another and build a
strong, vibrant community across the miles and years that until now have
separated us. Once we build up our active membership, the Alumni Association
will provide resources to develop the networking/mentoring components on the
Senior Skulls website to enhance our connectivity.
Also, if possible, you should plan to attend our first Senior Skull Society
AIG Annual Meeting to be held during Homecoming Weekend, Saturday,
October 13th, 2007.
We hope you share our excitement as we
build the organization of the Senior Skull AIG, and look forward to
interacting with you more in the future. |
